The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, have now announced that Emmy and Obie Award winner John Leguizamo will officially host The 63rd Annual OBIE Awards, which is set to place on May 21, 2018. This year the ceremony moves to a new venue and will be held at Terminal 5 on West 56th Street.

Mr. Leguizamo can currently be seen in the Broadway premiere of Latin History for Morons, which is playing an extended engagement at Studio 54 through to February 25, 2018. He won an Obie Award himself in 1991 for Mambo Mouth and a Lucille Lortel Award in 1993 for Spic-O-Rama. On Broadway, he earned a Tony Award nomination in 1998 for Freak, winning an Emmy Award the following year for its Spike Lee-helmed TV broadcast, whilst other Broadway credits include the Drama Desk Award-winning Ghetto Klown, American Buffalo, and Sexaholix...a love story. Mr. Leguizamo is also well known for his film career, including appearances in Baz Luhrman's "Moulin Rouge!" and "Romeo + Juliet," as well as his Golden Globe-nominated performance in "To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar," and for voicing the role of Sid the Sloth in the "Ice Age" movie franchise.

Mr. Leguizamo issued the following statement: "The Obie I won for my first solo play, Mambo Mouth, was unspeakably encouraging for a young artist just starting out, and still holds a ton of meaning to me. I am thrilled to take part in celebrating this year's crop of Obie winners. It's not just a great honor; it brings my career full circle."

For the past 63 years the OBIE Awards have honored the best of Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway. Structured with informal categories that change annually, The OBIE Awards recognize persons and productions of excellence. Unlike most theatre awards, the OBIE Awards have no nominations.

Latin History for Morons Tickets are available now for performances through to February 25, 2018.
