UPDATE: Broadway theatres will be allowed to reopen at full capacity from Sept. 14, 2021, with more information here.

For the past 12 months, Broadway audiences and industry creatives have all wondered when theatres can reopen again. With Broadway events now taking place as well as live events across the city, the likelihood of Broadway opening again from September 2021 seems more likely.

In an article from The New York Post, Broadway theatres could open from as early as August 2021, with Chicago tickets on sale for performances at the Ambassador Theatre from August 2.

Ain't Too Proud tickets at the Imperial Theatre and Jagged Little Piill tickets at the Broadhurst Theatre are both on sale from September 7, with Diana the Musical and The Music Man both posting a confirmed opening in December 2021. Company tickets will also be available soon, as Patti LuPone reprises her Olivier Award-winning performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

Even though the majority of productions have not posted a return date, new shows have been confirmed for a Broadway premiere. Thoughts of a Colored Man will open at the Golden Theatre, and Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death receiving a 50th anniversary revival in 2022.

Last month, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio confirmed a Coronavirus vaccination site will open, dedicated to theater industry workers. It's hoped this will speed up the return of Broadway shows, and you can read more about the return of Broadway here
