Its last performance will be on Sun, 30 Jan 2005, it had been booking to 20 Feb. It will have performed 16 previews and 507 regular performances. Wonderful Town opened on the 23 Nov 2003 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, following previews from the 4 Nov 2003. Wonderful Town tells the story of Eileen and Ruth, two sisters who are fresh off the bus from Ohio and are bursting with dreams of making it big, falling in love and living happily ever after in New York City. The cast includes: Brooke Shields (Ruth Sherwood), Jennifer Hope Wills (Eileen Sherwood), Gregg Edelman (Robert Baker), Nancy Kathryn Anderson (Helen), David Margulies (Appopolis), Raymond Jaramillo McLeod (Wreck) It is directed & choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, and produced by Barry & Fran Weissler / Roger Berlind Wonderful Town received five Tony Award nominations including Best Revival of a Musical. Director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall received the Tony Award for Best Choreography. The show received excellent notices from the critics: BEN BRENTLEY of the NEW YORK TIMES says �Ms. Murphy is giving one of the most dazzlingly accomplished comic performances that you're ever likely to see in a musical.� CLIVE BARNES of NEW YORK POST says �Broadway lives, and once more it's a wonderful town.� MICHAEL KUCHWARA of ASSOCIATED PRESS says "Impossible to resist."
