Wicked: Erin Mackey to play 'Glinda' from 11 Aug, Michelle Federer to return as 'Nessarose' on 18 Aug

 

Erin Mackey will play the role of Glinda in the Broadway musical Wicked from 11 Aug 2009, assuming the role from Alli Mauzey. Mackey is making her Broadway debut after playing the role of 'Glinda' in both the Chicago and Los Angeles productions.

And on the 18 Aug 2009 Broadway's original 'Nessarose,' Michelle Federer, will return to the production, assuming the role from Cristy Candler.

In addition to appearing in the Chicago, Los Angeles, and touring productions of Wicked, Mackey's film and television credits include 'The Parent Trap,' 'Do Over,' and 'Family Affair.'

Federer's stage credits include being the standby for Julia Rbert's in the Broadway production of 'Three Days of Rain.' Off-Broadway credits include 'Boys Life,' (Second Stage Theatre) and A Man of No Importance (Lincoln Center).

Wicked currently features Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), P.J. Benjamin (The Wizard), Rondi Reed (Madame Morrible), Kevern Kern (Fiyero), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Timothy Britten Parker (Doctor Dillamond) and Alex Brightman (Boq).

Wicked, now in its sixth year on Broadway, opened at the Gershwin Theatre on the 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003, where it is currently booking through to 23 May 2010.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
