White's Lies to star Betty Buckley
The producers have announced that for its first eight weeks, White's Lies will star Betty Buckley as 'Mrs. White.' This new comedy scripted by Ben Andron & directed by Bob Cline, will open Off-Broadway on 12 April 2010, following previews from 22 Mar, at New World Stages / Stage four.
Playwright Ben Andron said, "To have someone whose work on stage is so legendary, bringing my words to life, is an unbelievable honor. I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Betty Buckley."
White's Lies will mark Ms. Buckley's first appearance on the New York stage in seven years.
Buckley made her Broadway debut in 1969 in '1776, she followed with other Broadway roles in 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood,'' Song & Dance,' 'Sunset Boulevard' (NY & London) & 'Triumph of Love,' for which she received a Tony nomination. She is well known to TV audiences for her role in "Eight is Enough" & to film goers as Carrie's gym teacher in "Carrie" & in the role of a country singer in "Tender Mercies" with Robert Duvall. She also appeared in Woody Allen's Another Woman & Roman Polanski's Frantic.
The Tony Award-winning actress joins a cast that includes Scott Patterson, Peter Scolari, Christy Carlson Romano, Rena Strober and Jimmy Ray Bennett.
White's Lies: Some guys are scared stiff at the prospect of settling down, getting married, having kids...and Joe White is no exception.
