White Lies: Tom Cavanagh joins Elaine Stritch in a reading of Ben Andron's play
The New York Times reports that Tom Cavanagh is to star along side Elaine Stritch in a reading of Ben Andron's comic-drama White Lies, directed by Bob Cline, which is to be take place at the Snapple Theater Center on 24 Sep 2009.
Cavanagh is known to TV fans as 'Ed,' from the TV series of the same name, in which he starred. His Broadway credits include 'Shenandoah' and 'Urine Town.'
Stritch has been nominated for Tonys for her work in 'Bus Stop,' 'Sail Away,' 'Company' and 'A Delicate Balance.' Her last appearance on Broadway was in her solo show 'Elaine Stritch At Liberty,' which she recently performed at the Cafe Carlyle, where she has appeared in cabaret on a number of occasions.
White Lies: Joe White�s (Tom Cavanagh) got it all. He�s handsome, he�s charming, he�s got a great career & a killer smile that manages to land him a different girl every night. But all that changes when his mother (Elaine Stritch) drops a bombshell on him: she�s got cancer & her dying wish is to have a grandchild. His care-free bachelor days threatened, Joe has to find someway to please his mother and he thinks his ex-girlfriend may just provide the cover he needs.
The event will also feature Jimmy Bennett, Jason Kravits and Rena Strober.
The reading is being produced by Aaron Grant and Kelvin Productions. The producers hope to premiere the show at an Off-Broadway venue. No casting or dates have been announced.
