West Side Story at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater



John Jay College Department of Speech, Theatre & Media Studies presents the musical West Side Story, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Arthur Laurents, playing at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College from 4 - 8 Dec 2007.

West Side Story: A modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story is the tale of young lovers caught between the cultural tension and violence brewing on the streets of New York City as working-class white youth and Puerto Rican immigrants sought to carve out a turf and identity they could call their own.

Directed by Dana Tarantino, with choreography by James Beaudry, West Side Story features Adam Sansiveri, Abby Lee, Heather Revfram, Buenaventura Rodriguez and other students from John Jay College as well as from other participating colleges from Ohio to New Mexico.

The design team features Art Rotch (sets) and Lucrecia Briceno (lighting).
