Treason at the Perry Street Theatre

The Perry Street Theatre Company Inc. presents Treason, by Sallie Bingham, opening at the Perry Street Theatre on the 15 Jun 2006, following previews from the 8 Jun and running through to the 23 Jul 2006.

Treason tells the extraordinary story of American iconoclast, poet, composer, translator, anti-Semite, racist, and, possibly the traitor, Ezra Pound and the five women in his life. Considered by many to be the most important poet of the 20th Century, the play follows Pound from his broadcasts for Radio Rome railing against the U.S. involvement in World War II, through 1945, when he was arrested and jailed on 19 charges of treason.

Treason's cast, directed by Martin Platt, features Philip Pleasants (Ezra Pound), Jennifer Sternberg (Dorothy Shakespeare Pound), Mary Bacon (Marcella Spann), Kathleen Early (Sherri Martinelli), Peter van Wagner (Dr. Overholser), Angela Reed (Mary Rudge) and Damon Gupton (Whiteside/Micheaux).

The play has set design by Bill Clarke, costumes by Martha Hally, lighting by Jeff Nellis and sound by Lindsay Jones.
