A new documentary about Tina Turner will be released next month, it has been announced. Showcasing the greatest moments in Turner's career, the mononymously named documentary Tina will air on HBO on March 27, ahead of a United Kingdom release the following day (March 28).

Directed by Dan Lindsay, T. J. Martin and Lightbox, Tina will highlight how Tina Turner became a world-renowned performer, despite her personal and professional struggles. Over 40 years of footage will be used in Tina, including a 1981 interview with Carl Arrington for People Magazine.

Interviewees taking part to share their Tina Turner stories include journalist Kurt Loder, previously co-authoring the 1996 autobiography I, Tina. Angela Bassett, Oprah Winfrey, Katori Hall and husband Erwin Bach also feature in the documentary.

As well as the upcoming documentary on the Queen of Rock and Roll, the Broadway premiere of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical opened at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre in 2019. Adrienne Warren plays the female superstar, with the musical currently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical. In a review of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Mark Shenton said: "In the case of Tina - which tells of her own submission - there's a strong dramatic spine that makes it feel particularly earned and respected, and a necessary release for the audience, too."

Tina is available on HBO from March 27.
