The Woman In White: Maria Friedman returns after brief medical leave

Maria Friedman, the multi Olivier award winning star of The Woman In White, returned to the show last night (Thu 10 Nov) after her recent surgery.

The The Woman In White will open as scheduled on the 17 Nov 2005 at the Marquis Theatre. The show is currently in previews which began on the 28 Oct 2005.

Friedman had played just three previews when she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer last week and underwent surgery on the 3 Nov 2005. During the week of performances Friedman missed, the role of Marian Halcombe was performed by her understudy Lisa Brescia.

The Woman In White is directed by Trevor Nunn and features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by David Zippel and a book by Charlotte Jones.
