The Threepenny Opera extends to 11 May 2014

Atlantic Theater Company have announced a one week extension for their revival of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's musical The Threepenny Opera, with English adaptation by Marc Blitzstein. The production opened at the Linda Gross Theater on 07 Apr 2014, following previews from 12 Mar 2014, where it was originally scheduled to close on 04 May 2014 after a limited eight-week engagement. The show is now set to close on 11 May 2014.

Directed and choreographed by Martha Clarke, The Threepenny Opera features Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham ("Amadeus"), Sophie Bortolussi, Jon David Casey, Timothy Doyle, Lilli Cooper, Rick Holmes, John Kelly, Lindsey Dietz Marchant, Sally Murphy, Tony Award-nominee Mary Beth Peil (The King and I), Tony Award-nominee Laura Osnes (Cinderella, Bonnie and Clyde), Emmy Award-winner Michael Park ("As the World Turns"), Cristina Spina and John Watkins.

Synopsis: The Threepenny Opera follows the charismatic scoundrel Macheath and his criminal exploits in 19th century London. When Macheath marries Polly Peachum, the straight-laced daughter of powerful, miserly merchant JJ. Peachum, their unlikely union unleashes the chaos of manhunts, bribes, and imprisonment.

The creative team features set design by Robert Israel, costumes by Donna Zakowska, lighting by Christopher Akerlind and sound by Clive Goodwin.
