The Rivalry extends its run by two weeks
Norman Corwin's The Rivalry, presented by The Irish Repertory Theatre in association with the Vincent Dowling Theatre Company, extends its run by two weeks and will now play through to 19 Jul 2009.
The Rivalry opened at the Irish Repertory Theatre on 21 May 2009, following previews from 15 May and was originally scheduled to end its run on 5 Jul 2009.
The play opened to good reviews: "a powerful reminder that politics matter" (NY Post); "quite timely during this 2009 bicentennial celebration of Abraham Lincoln's birth" (AP).
The Rivalry: In 1858, two extraordinary men shared a podium to debate issues that would rock the world. Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, the nation's most charismatic orators, tackled these historic debates with a fervor and an energy which hypnotized the nation.
Directed by Vincent Dowling, The Rivalry, features Christian Kauffmann as 'Abraham Lincoln,' Peter Cormican as 'Stephen Douglas,' Mary Linda Rapelye as 'Adele Douglas' and Doug Stender as the 'Republican Committeeman.'
The creative team featires Eugene D. Warner (sets), Rosi Zingales (costumes), Brian Nason (lighting) and Zachary Williamson (sound)
