The Fantasticks: Jeremiah James plays El Gallo
Jeremiah James plays the role of El Gallo from 8 May 2012 in Off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks playing at the Snapple Theatre Center. James assumed the role from Ed Watts.
James theatre credits include playing 'Billy Bigelow' in the 2008 West End revival of 'Carousel' at the Savoy Theater. Other Theatre credits include 'Bobby Child' in 'Crazy for You,' the 'Beast' in Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' at Ordway, 'Doctor Shocker' in 'The Gay Bride of Frankenstein' at The REP, 'Alvaro Mangiacavallo' in 'The Rose Tattoo' at River City Rep and 'George Gibb' in 'Our Town' at Theatricum Botanicum. Touring credits include 'Curly' in the Cameron Mackintosh/Trevor Nunn revival of 'Oklahoma!' 1st National Tour. James' recordings include "Teatro" (Sony/BMG) and "Tupelo" (Yellow Sound Label).
The Fantasticks tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling fathers, but soon grows restless and stray from one another. Will their separation provide a deeper appreciation for the love they once shared or create a permanent gulf between them?
Featuring the beloved songs "Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," The Fantasticksis a celebration of love - first love, lost love and true love.
The Fantasticks now features Jeremiah James (Narrator - El Gallo), Aaron Carter (Matt), Bill Bateman (Bellomy), Juliette Trafton (Luisa), Dan Sharkey (Hucklebee), Michael Nostrand (Mortimer), *MacIntyre Dixon (Henry) and Matt Leisy (The Mute).
*John Davidson will play the role of 'Henry' from 1 - 16 Jun 2012.
Produced by Terzetto LLC and Pat Flicker Addiss, The Fantasticks features scenic and costume design by Ed Wittstein, lighting design by Mary Jo Dondlinger and sound design by Domonic Sack.
This musical love story features music by Harvey Schmidt and book and lyrics by Tom Jones. Jones also directs the production.
The musical comedy, directed by Word Baker, originally opened at New York's Sullivan Street Playhouse on the 3 May 1960 and played 17,162 performances before closing on the 13 Jan 2002, making it the world's longest running musical.
The Fantasticks opened at the Snapple Theater Center's Jerry Orbach Theater on 16 Jun 2006, where it is currently selling tickets through to 2 Sep 2012.
