Taking Care of Baby: Reed Birney and Margaret Colin

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) have announced that Reed Birney as 'Dr. Millard' and Margaret Colin as 'Lynn Barrie' will star in the American Premiere of Tony Award winner Dennis Kelly's (Matilda The Musical) Taking Care of Baby, directed by Erica Schmidt (Off-B'way: Humor Abuse), opening at New York City Center Stage II on 19 Nov 2013, following previews from 05 Nov 2013, for a five week engagement.

They will be joined by Kristen Bush as 'Donna McAuliffe' and Tony nominee Amelia Campbell (Our Country's Good) as 'Mrs. Millard/Jane.' Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

An unspeakable tragedy. A shattered family. An accusation of murder. Taking Care of Baby uses drama-documentary and verbatim theatre to explore how truth is compromised by today's information culture.

The creative team includes Laura Jellinek (scenic design), Jessica Pabst (costume design), David Weiner (lighting design) and Fitz Patton (sound design).

Taking Care of Baby premiered at London's Hampstead Theatre in 2007.

Reed Birney returns to MTC having appeared in 'Blasted' and 'Our Leading Lady.' Earlier in 2013 he starred on Broadway as 'Howard Bevans' in 'Picnic.' His many Off-Broadway credits include 'Circle Mirror Transformation,' 'The Savannah Disputation,' 'Our Leading Lady' and 'Stuff Happens.'

Margaret Colin is returning to the MTC having starred in their Broadway production of 'The Columnist.' Her Broadway credits include 'Arcadia,' 'Old Acquaintance' 'A Day in the Death of Joe Egg' and 'Jackie.' For her TV work she is best known for playing "Eleanor Waldorf-Rose" in "Gossip Girl" and as "Margo Montgomery Hughes" on "As the World Turns."
