Suicide Incorporated: cast announced



Roundabout Theatre Company have announced the full cast for the NEw York premiere of Suicide Incorporated, by Andrew Hinderaker, directed by Jonathan Berry, opening at the Black Box Theatre on 2 Nov 2011, following previews from 14 Oct 2011, and playing through to 23 Dec 2011.

Suicide Incorporated will feature Mike DiSalvo, Gabriel Ebert, Corey Hawkins, James McMenamin, Toby Leonard Moore and Jake O'Connor.

Suicide Incorporated: The right words can be hard to find, especially when they're your last. An unorthodox writing service that specializes in crafting the perfect suicide note, where a subversive new employee is suspected of the unthinkable. Could he actually be helping his client find happiness?

The creative team includes Daniel Zimmerman (Sets), Jessica Wegener Shay (Costumes), Zach Blane (Lighting) and Chad Raines (Sound).

Suicide Incorporated kicks off the fifth season of Roundabout Underground, an initiative launched in 2007 to introduce and cultivate artists in Roundabout's 62-seat Black Box Theatre, at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street, NYC, NY, 10036).

Prior productions include the world premieres of Stephen Karam's 'Speech & Debate (2007), Steven Levenson's The Language of Trees (2008), Adam Gwon's Ordinary Days' (2009), Kim Rosenstock's'Tigers Be Still' (2010) and David West Read's 'The Dream of the Burning Boy' (2011).

Roundabout Underground is an initiative to showcase new plays that will either allow an experienced director to go back to his/her creative roots or give a debut production to an emerging writer or director. Robyn Goodman (Artistic Consultant to the Roundabout), who has significant artistic development experience, is curating the initiative that continues to be a creative breeding ground for nurturing new talent.

Bios:

Mike Disalvo (Officer) was last seen on stage in Roundabout's National Tour of 'Twelve Angry Men.' He recently appeared in the films "The Adjustment Bureau" and "Love & Other Drugs." Television credits include "Blue Bloods," "Rubicon," and "All My Children."

Gabriel Ebert (Jason). Broadway: Roundabout's 'Brief Encounter' (Stanley) and 'Red' (Understudy). Off Broadway: '4000 Miles' (Leo), 'The Sacrifices' (Justin). Regional: 'Prometheus Bound' (A.R.T.). 'Juilliard School' (Group 38).

Corey Hawkins (Perry) is a recent graduate of The Juilliard Drama program. At Juilliard, Corey was the recipient of the 2010 John Houseman Prize which is granted to one Juilliard student that has demonstrated exceptional ability in classical theater. Corey recently finished the independent feature "Recalled" in which he stars opposite Pablo Schreiber and Lil Bow Wow and was most recently seen in New York Stage & Film's production of "Piece of My Heart" which was part of the 2011 Powerhouse Season.

James McMenamin (Norm). Most recent 'Jerry' in Albee's 'At Home at the Zoo' (Arena Stage.). Off-Broadway: 'Middletown' (Vineyard Theatre), 'Our Town' (Barrow St.), 'BFE' (Playwrights Horizons), 'The Naked Angels Issues Project' and 'Mag-7' (Naked Angels). TV: "I Just Want My Pants Back," "Law & Order: SVU," "Law & Order" and "Guiding Light."

Toby Leonard Moore (Scott) makes his American Theater debut with Suicide Incorporated. A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, Australia, his Australian debut was in Luke Davies' 'Stag' with Sydney Theatre Company. Other STC credits include 'Dead Caesar' and 'Saturn's Return.' TV credits include "The Pacific", "Dollhouse", "Underbelly", "Legend Of The Seeker" and "Blue Bloods". For Michelle.

Jake O'Connor (Tommy). Off-Broadway: 'Kyle' in 'The Dream of the Burning Boy' at the Roundabout Underground. 'Randolph' in 'Wildflower' at Second Stage. Television: "Gossip Girl", "Fringe", "Rescue Me", "The Big C", "Lights Out", and "Body of Proof". Film: "Margaret" and "Return to Sleepaway Camp."

Andrew Hinderaker (Playwright). Suicide Incorporated was developed at Steppenwolf's First Look Festival of New Work and at the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference. It premiered at Chicago's Gift Theatre in June 2010 to critical acclaim, where it enjoyed a twice-extended sold-out run and was nominated for multiple Jeff Awards, including Best New Work. Hinderaker's follow-up, 'Kingsville,' premiered at Chicago's Stage Left Theatre in October 2010. Hinderaker's new play, 'I Am Going To Change The World,' will receive its world premiere in Spring 2012 at Chicago Dramatists, where he is a Resident Playwright.

Jonathan Berry (Director) previously directed the world premiere of Andrew Hinderaker's Suicide Incorporated at the Gift Theatre in 2010, as well as in a staged reading for Steppenwolf's First Look Festival of New Work. His production of David Eldridge's 'Festen' is currently running in extension at the Steep Theatre.
