Roundabout's Time and the Conways begins previews

Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway revival of J.B. Priestley's Time and the Conways, starring Oscar, Emmy & Golden Globe nominee Elizabeth McGovern, begins previews at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre tonight. An official opening is set for October 10, with a strictly limited engagement through to November 26, 2017.

Synopsis: "In 1919 Britain, Mrs. Conway is full of optimism during her daughter's lavish twenty-first birthday celebration. The Great War is over, wealth is in the air, and the family's dreams bubble over like champagne. Jump nineteen years into the future, though, and the Conways' lives have transformed unimaginably. This time-traveling play takes place at the crossroads of today and tomorrow—challenging our notions of choice, chance and destiny.

Ms. McGovern stars as Mrs. Conway in the production and is joined by Tony nominee Steven Boyer (as Ernest), Anna Camp (as Hazel), Tony winner Gabriel Ebert (as Alan), Charlotte Parry (as Kay) and Matthew James Thomas (as Robin), with Anna Baryshnikov (as Carol), Brooke Bloom (as Madge), Alfredo Narciso (as Gerald) and Cara Ricketts (Joan).

Directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman, the creative team behind Time and the Conways features scenic design by Neil Patel, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Christopher Akerlind and sound design by Matt Hubbs.

Elizabeth McGovern previously starred on Broadway as Ophelia in the Roundabout's 1992 revival of 'Hamlet' and made her Broadway debut in 'Love Letters' in 1989. Her off-Broadway credits include the "Shakespeare in the Park" productions of 'As You Like It' (1992) and 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' (1987), Atlantic's 1991 revival of 'Three Sisters,' and the Public Theater's productions of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (1987) and 'A Map of the World' (1985), among others. She is perhaps best known for her TV role as Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham on the hit series "Downtown Abbey," for which she earned an Emmy Award nomination in 2011 and a Golden Globe nomination in 2012. She picked up both an Academy Award nomination and Golden Globe nomination for her performance as Evelyn Nesbit in "Ragtime" in 1982. Other notable screen credits include "Clash of the Titans," "Kick-Ass," "Once Upon a Time in America" and "Ordinary People."

Time and the Conways originally premiered at Broadway's Ritz Theatre in January 1938 and ran for a total of 32 performances, starring Dame Sybil Thorndike as Mrs. Conway.
