Pretty Woman: The Musical is officially heading to Broadway and will begin performances at a yet=to-be-named Nederlander venue in fall 2018.

Prior to the Broadway premiere, the musical adaptation will stage its world premiere at Chicago's Oriental Theatre for a 5-week limited engagement from March 13, 2018.

Leading the cast will be Samantha Barks (as Vivian) and Tony & Grammy Award winner Steve Kazee (as Edward). Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Directed and choreographed by two-time Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, Pretty Woman: The Musical features original music and lyrics by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance, and a book by Garry Marshall and J.F. Lawton, the director and screenwriter, respectively, of the original 1990 movie.

Jerry Mitchell released the following statement:

"From the first time I saw this magical movie I felt it cried out to be a musical. Pretty Woman is a classic story with a very contemporary message. I think we all want to fall deeply in love with someone - it is something you never stop hoping for. I got to work with Garry for over a year on this musical adaptation and experienced firsthand his sense of humor, his joy, his uplifting attitude in life, and mostly his love for these characters... I want that to infuse what I am doing with Pretty Woman: The Musical as he is the true heart of this story."

Synopsis: "Vivian and Edward are unlikely soulmates who overcome all odds to find each other... and themselves. Experience the moments you love from the movie — and get to know these iconic characters in a whole new way — in this dazzlingly theatrical take on a love story for the ages. Brought to life by a powerhouse creative team representing the best of music, Hollywood and Broadway, Pretty Woman: The Musical is guaranteed to lift your spirits and light up your heart."

The creative team behind Pretty Woman: The Musical features music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Will Van Dyke, scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner & Philip S. Rosenberg, sound design by John Shivers, and hair design by Josh Marquette.

Pretty Woman: The Musical is produced on Broadway by Paula Wagner, Nice Productions, LPO, New Regency Productions, Roy Furman, James L. Nederlander, Caiola Productions, Hunter Arnold, Stage Entertainment and The John Gore Organization.

Samantha Barks rose to prominence after placing third in the BBC Talent Show "I'd Do Anything" in 2008. She then toured the UK as Sally Bowles in 'Cabaret' and landed the role of Éponine in the West End production of 'Les Misérables' and the 25th Anniversary concert at The O2 Arena in 2010, and ultimately in the 2012 film adaptation. Her other notable stage credits include the UK tour of 'Oliver!', the Donmar Warehouse revival of 'City of Angels', 'The Last Five Years' at London's St. James Theatre, 'Chicago' at the Hollywood Bowl and the title role in 'Amélie' at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Steve Kazee is perhaps best known for his Tony and Grammy Award-winning performance as Guy in 'Once'. His other Broadway credits include 'To Be Or Not To Be', '110 in the Shade', 'Seascape' and Monty Python's 'Spamalot'. He is also known for his TV role as Gus Pfender on "Shameless".

Pretty Woman has now closed in New York, but the show will be transferring to London.
