Our Town to close on 12 Sep



The record-breaking production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town at the Barrow Street Theatre will play its final performance 12 Sep 2010.

After an earlier engagement this summer, Academy Award-nominee Michael McKean will rejoin the cast for three-weeks in the role of 'The Stage Manager,' from 3 - 22 Aug 2010. McKean follows Helen Hunt, who will give her final performance on 1 Aug 2010.

McKean will be followed by Obie and Lucille Lortel Award winner David Cromer, who originated the role in this production, on 24 Aug 2010 for the play's final weeks. Scott Parkinson, who appeared in the role last summer, will return to play matinee performances on 28 & 29 Aug and 4 & 5 Sep 2010.

The iconic 'Stage Manager' role in this production of Our Town has been performed by seven actors, including David Cromer, Scott Parkinson, Jason Butler Harner, Stephen Kunken, Michael Shannon, Michael McKean and Helen Hunt.

Our Town opened at the Barrow Street Theatre on 26 Feb 2009, following previews from 17 Feb, where it is now booking through to 12 Sep 2010.

The show opened to mostly positive reviews: "modest but highly rewarding" (NY Times); 'riveting new production' (NY Daily News); 'wonderful' (NY Post); "Astonishingly reinvented" (AP).

Our Town went on to win the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Production and Outstanding Direction and Obie Award for Outstanding Director. This current staging of Our Town entered its second year on 26 Feb 2010 and is the longest-running production of the play in its 72-year history.

The cast of Our Town currently features Elizabeth Audley (Mrs. Soames), Robert Beitzel (Howie Newsome), Kati Brazda (Mrs. Webb), Will Brill (Joe Crowell, Jr,) Nathan Dame (Sam Craig), Roger E. DeWitt (Joe Stoddard), Donna Jay Fulks (Mrs. Gibbs), Emma Galvin (Rebecca Gibbs), Jennifer Grace (Emily Webb), Wilbur Edwin Henry (Professor Willard), Mark Hattan (Constable Warren), David Manis (Mr. Webb), Jonathan Mastro (Simon Stimson), James McMenamin (George Gibbs), Seamus Mulcahy (Wally Webb), Jeff Still (Doc Gibbs), Jason Yachanin (Si Crowell), with Dana Jacks, Lynn Laurence, Kathleen Peirce, Keith Perry and Mark Shock.

The creative team for Our Town features Michele Spadaro (set design and props), Alison Siple (costume design) and Heather Gilbert (lighting design).
