Official Broadway production photos released for Hadestown
The Broadway premiere of Hadestown is set for an official opening at the Walter Kerr Theatre on April 17, 2019.
Producers of the Broadway premiere of singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's celebrated folk opera Hadestown have now released official Broadway production photos, featuring cast members Reeve Carney (as Orpheus), 2-time Tony Award nominee André De Shields (as Hermes), Amber Gray (as Persephone), Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada (as Eurydice), and Patrick Page (as Hades), alongside Jewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, and Kay Trinidad (as The Fates), whilst the chorus of Workers will be played by Afra Hines, Timothy Hughes, John Krause, Kimberly Marable, and Ahmad Simmons.
Co-created by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (who also directs), Hadestown began previews at the Walter Kerr Theatre on March 22, 2019, and is scheduled for an official opening on April 17.
Synopsis: "Hadestown follows songwriter Orpheus and his mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice. Celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's mesmerizing melodies and poetic imagination pit nature against industry, faith against doubt, and love against fear in this genre-defying new work that blends modern American folk music with vintage New Orleans jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale."
The creative team behind Hadestown features choreography by David Neumann, music direction & vocal arrangements by Liam Robinson, arrangements & orchestrations by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose, scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Bradley King, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and dramaturgy by Ken Cerniglia.
Hadestown staged its world premiere at New York Theatre Workshop in May 2016 (check out our five-star review from the NYTW world premiere) and went on to receive its Canadian premiere at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre in November 2017, followed by its UK premiere at the National Theatre in London, which premiered in November 2018 and ended its acclaimed run on January 26, 2019.
Hadestown is produced on Broadway by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy.
Hadestown Tickets are available now for performances through to September 1, 2019.
