November: Last eight weeks to see Nathan Lane

An Advert in the New York Times today (9 May 2008) for David Mamet's play November, states "Last 8 Weeks to see Nathan Lane."

The advertisement also states that Lane will play his final performance as 'President Charles Smith' on 13 Jul 2008, which is the same date that the show is currently booking tickets through to.

Though a spokeperson for the show has confirmed that Lane will play his final performance on 13 Jul 2008 there has been no official announcement, and it is not known if the role of 'President Charles Smith' will be recast, or if the show will close on that date.

November opened at Broadway' Barrymore Theatre on 17 Jan 2008, following previews from 20 Dec 2007. The show opened to mostly good reviews reviews: "Hilarious political comedy." (New York Theatre Guide); "Satire with a big mouth but no bite." (New York Daily News); "Empty-headed political fun." (New York Post); "Flat-out funny" (Journal News).

November, directed by Joe Mantello, is a contemporary comedy about a president named Charles Smith and is set a few days before the election, in which he is running as an incumbent. The action unfolds over one day and involves civil marriage, gambling casinos, lesbians, American Indians, presidential libraries, questionable pardons and campaign contributions.

The comedy also stars Laurie Metcalf as Clarice Bernstein, aide to President Smith and Dylan Baker as Archer Brown, adviser to President Charles Smith.

The creative team features Scott Pask (sets), Laura Bauer (costumes) and Paul Gallo (lights).
