Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is getting transfigured! A new version of the six-time Tony Award-winning Broadway play will begin performances at the Lyric Theatre on November 12.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has played the Lyric since 2018. When it first opened, the show was performed in two parts totaling approximately 5 hours. In 2021, the play reopened as a one-part, 3.5-hour production.

The new 2024 version will run under three hours, including one intermission. This iteration of Cursed Child premiered in Chicago earlier this year to acclaim.

"I know a magnificent piece of theatre when I see one," reads the Chicago Tribune's review. "You go for a level of honesty that you can experience nowhere else. I think my love for this show flows from its determined originality, its decision to focus on the fundamental strengths of the live theater experience, its willingness to stretch the vocabulary of commercial theatre and the skill with which its dramatic story was crafted."

As previously announced, a new cast will also begin performances in the show on November 12. The main cast includes Matthew James Thomas as Harry Potter, Sarah Killough as Ginny Potter, Alex Serino as Albus Potter, Daniel Fredrick as Ron Weasley, Rachel Christopher as Hermione Granger, Ayanna Nicole Thomas as Rose Granger-Weasley, Aaron Bartz as Draco Malfoy, Erik Christopher Peterson as Scorpius Malfoy, and Kristen Martin as Delphi Diggory.

The company also includes Chadd Alexander, John Alix, Megan Byrne, Maxim Chlumecky, James Cribbins, Ted Deasy, Kira Fath, Gary-Kayi Fletcher, Eleasha Gamble, Logan James Hall, Janae Hammond, Abbi Hawk, Sophie Hearn, Chance Marshaun Hill, Zachary Lindberg, Jay Mack, Bradley Patchett, Alexandra Peter, Kira Player, Dan Plehal, Gabrielle Reid, Isaac Phaman Reynolds, Allie Re, Stephen Spinella, Tom Stephens, Khadija Tariyan, Baylen Thomas, Julius Williams and Riley Thad Young.

The story of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child — written by Jack Thorne and based on an original story by Thorne, J. K. Rowling, and John Tiffany — remains the same. The play follows a new generation of wizards, Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy, as they become friends at Hogwarts and go on a time-traveling adventure. But when they accidentally mess with history, Harry and his friends must once again help save the Wizarding World.
