Mothers and Sons announces dates and theatre

The Broadway premiere of Terrence McNally's new play Mothers and Sons, directed by Tony Award-nominee Sheryl Kaller and starring Tony and Emmy Award-winner Tyne Daly, will open at the John Golden Theatre on 24 Mar 2014, following previews from 23 Feb 2014.

Mothers and Sons: Twenty years after her son's death, Katharine (Tyne Daly) turns up at the door of his former lover, who is now married to another man and has a young son. This man and his family challenge the woman to confront the truths of their shared past, and a future she never imagined. Values clash as they struggle to reconcile their vastly different worlds.

Mothers and Sons had its world premiere at Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania, where it played from 13 - 23 Jun 2013. The production was directed by Sheryl Kaller and starred Tyne Daly as 'Katharine.' The four member cast also starred Manoel Felciano, Bobby Steggert and Grayson Taylor.

The play is to be produced on Broadway by Tom Kirdahy, Paula Wagner & Debbie Bisno, and Alan and Barbara Marks & Wade Turnbull.

Mothers and Sons will mark playwright McNally's 20th Broadway production. (Tony Award), 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' (Tony Award), 'The Rink,' 'Bad Habits,' 'Morning, Noon and Night,' 'Here's Where I Belong,' 'And Things That Go Bump in the Night' and 'The Lady of the Camellias.'

Tyne Daly's Broadway credits include McNally's 'Master Class,' 'Rabbit Hole,' (Tony-nomination), 'The Seagull,' 'Gypsy' (Tony Award) and 'That Summer - That Fall.' Daly has won six Primetime Emmy Awards: four for her role as "Det. Mary Beth Lacey" in "Cagney & Lacey;" one for portraying "Maxine Gray" in "Judging Amy;" and one for playing "Alice Henderson" in "Christy."
