Mon 10 Jan 2005 'McReele' announces full cast Roundabout Theatre Company annouce the final casting for their world premiere of Stephen Belber's new drama McReele, which will open at the Laura Pels Theatre on 24 Feb 2005, following previews from the 4 Feb. This is a strictly limited engagement through to the 1 May 2005. (Orignally this was announced to have opened 17 Feb 2005 and close on 24 Apr 2005) Michael O'Keefe, Jodi Long, Portia, and Henry Strozier join the previously announced cast member, Anthony Mackie McReele will be directed by Doug Hughes, with set design by Neil Patel, costumes by Paul Tazewell, lighting by Michael Chybowski and sound by David Van Tieghem. Synopsis: When Delaware journalist Rick Dayne meets death row inmate Darius McReele, the articles Rick writes eventually lead to Darius's exoneration from an 18 year old murder conviction. Darius's sympathetic past and magnetic personality make him a darling of the lecture circuit, leading to national attention and political viability. With his past and future in the balance, Darius walks the line, as Rick seeks to determine which way he'll ultimately fall. Biographies: Michael O'Keefe recently starred in 'Reckless'. Jodi Long, recently starred in Madame Liang in the Broadway revival of 'Flower Drum Song'. Portia, starred Off-Broadway in 'Our Lady of 121st Street'. Henry Strozier, was last seen on Broadway in 'Judgment at Nuremberg'. Anthony Mackie starred in last seasons 'Drowning Crow' opposite Alfre Woodard. Playwright Stephen Belber was represented last season on Broadway with the world premiere of his play 'Match' starring Frank Langella and Ray Liotta. Belber's play 'Tape' has been produced in New York, Australia, Germany, Canada, Greece and Japan and was made into a feature film starring Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. Doug Hughes recently directed John Patrick Shanley's 'Doubt', which opened this month off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club. Hughes received 2004 Tony Award, Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle nominations for his direction of Bryony Laverys acclaimed 'Frozen', which transferred to Broadway last season.
