Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me delays opening by one week
The Broadway comical musical Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, has delayed its Broadway opening at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre oby one week. The musical will now open on the 17 Aug 2006, following previews from the 29 Jul 2006. The musical is currently booking through to the 7 Jan 2006.
The show's press release announcing the new dates gave no reason for the delay.
Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me is currently playing at Toronto's Canon Theatre through to 2 Jul 2006, followed by a run at Chicago's LaSalle Bank Theatre from 5 - 16 Jul 2006, before finally arriving on Broadway.
Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me begins with Martin Short and company singing the exuberant "Party with Marty," launching what he intends to be a celebration of his "fabulous, perfect life." Very quickly, it becomes clear the audience - addicted to Oprah and "Behind the Music" - expects scandal and angst from their star. Lacking any in his own life, Short frantically modifies his life story as he and the cast tell it, adding the requisite struggle, pain and psychobabble to fabricate an increasingly hilarious alternative autobiography.
The cast for Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, directed by Scott Wittman, features Martin Short, Brooks Ashmanskas, Mary Birdsong, Capathia Jenkins, Nicole Parker and Marc Shaiman.
The musical has set design by Scott Pask, costumes by Jess Goldstein and sound by Peter Hylenski.
Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me is conceived by Martin Short, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, it features a book by Martin Short and Daniel Goldfarb, music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman.
The musical is being produced on Broadway by Becker Zeiger Entertainment, Harbor Entertainment and Roy Furman.
