Manhattan Theatre Club announce cast for The Receptionist and New York Premiere of The Four of Us added to season
Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) announce the full cast for their world premiere of Adam Bock's The Receptionist, and the New York premiere of Itamar Moses's The Four of Us.
Joining the previously announced Jayne Houdyshell in the The Receptionist are Josh Charles, Robert Foxworth, and Kendra Kassebaum.
In The Receptionist Beverly (Houdyshell) takes pride in her work as the receptionist at a busy Northeast office. Whether coaching her co-worker Lorraine (Kassebaum) through romantic troubles, fielding calls for their boss Mr. Raymond (Foxworth) or carefully monitoring the flow of office supplies, Beverly keeps her domain shipshape. But when handsome Mr. Dart (Charles) arrives unexpectedly from the central office, Beverly is charmed, Lorraine is smitten and Mr. Raymond is caught completely off guard.
Jayne Houdyshell (Beverly) is currently appearing as Madame Morrible in Wicked, she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Ann in Lisa Kron's 'Well' (2006).
Robert Foxwell's (Mr. Raymond) credits include: 'Twelve Angry Men' (replacement Jurer #3 - 2004), 'Judgment at Nuremberg' (2001), 'Honour' (1998), 'Ivanov' (1997 revival).
Kendra Kassebaums (Lorraine) Broadway credits include Glinda in Wicked, as well as playing in the ensemble of Rent and 'Assassins' (2004).
Josh Charles' (Mr. Dart) as appeared previously Off-Broadway playing Rich in the Manhattan Class Company's 'The Distance From Here' (2004).
Joe Mantello (director) recently directed the MTC's production of David Harrower�s 'Blackbird' (2007). His many Broadway credits include 'Three Days of Rain' (2006), 'The Odd Couple' (2005 revival), 'Glengarry Glen Ross' (Tony nomination - 2005 revival), 'Laugh Whore' (2004), 'Assassins' (Tony Award - 2004), Wicked (2003), 'Take Me Out' (2003 Tony Award).
Adam Bock�s (playwright) plays include 'The Shaker Chair' (Humana Festival), 'Swimming in the Shallows' (Second Stage), 'Thugs' (SoHo Repertory), 'Five Flights' (Rattlestick) and 'The Typographer�s Dream' (Clubbed Thumb).
Added to their new season is the New York premiere of The Four of Us, written by Itamar Moses and directed by Pam Mackinnon, beginning previews at NY City Center / Stage 2 on the 6 Mar 2008, opening on 25 Mar 2008.
The Four of Us: When Benjamin's first novel vaults him into literary stardom, his friend David, a struggling playwright, is thrilled for his newfound success...or is he? Should Benjamin help David by using his new connections? Can David even expect such favors from his friend? And, most importantly, who should pay for lunch?
Itamar Moses' (playwright) 'Bach at Leipzig' played at New York Theatre Workshop in 2005. His other plays include 'Outrage', 'Celebrity Row', 'Yellowjackets', 'Back Back Back', and 'Completeness'.
Pam Mackinnon (Director) directed the World Premiere of The Four of Us at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego earlier this year. Mackinnon also directed the New Yrk Theatre Workshop production of Moses 'Bach at Leipzig'.
