Look Homeward, Angel: Variety report that Daniel Sullivan will direct Broadway revival



Variety reports that Daniel Sullivan will direct a Broadway revival of Ketti Frings' Look Homeward, Angel, adapted by David Auburn, expected to arrive in Fall 2009, at a theatre to be announced.

The play, Look Homeward, Angel, is adapted from Thomas Wolfe's novel of the same title, traces the coming of age of Eugene Gant in the small town of Altamont, North Carolina. Eliza, his mother, is a woman who likes to make 'Deals'�in business and with people. With the proverbial iron hand in the velvet glove and almost equal concern, she runs "Dixieland," her seedy boarding house, an alcoholic husband, a daughter and two sons.

Director Daniel Sullivan is to direct Nathan Lane in the upcoming Broadway production of Samson Raphaelson's comedy Accent on Youth. He won the 2001 Tony Award Best Direction of a Play for 'Proof' (200), and has been nominated for five Tony Awards: 'The Heidi Chronicles' (1989); 'Conversations With My Father' (1992); 'The Sisters Rosensweig' (1993); 'Morning's at Seven' (2002 revival) and 'Rabbit Hole' (2006). He was last represented on Broadway when he directed 'Top Girls' (2008).

Accent on Youth had its world premiere at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in 1957 and was directed by George Roy Hill.

The production will be produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Steve Traxler producting the Broadway revival of Noel Coward's comedy Blithe Spirit, to be directed by Michael Blakemore, and starring Angela Lansbury, Rupert Everett and Christine Ebersole expected to begin previews from 26 Feb 2008 at a theatre to be announced.

The team currently represented on Broadway by Tracy Letts� August: Osage County, Spring Awakening and the Broadway revival of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plough.

There has been no official announcement about this production.
