La Cage Aux Folles' Robert Goulet to star as 'Georges' from the 15 Apr

Robert Goulet returns to Broadway playing the role of 'Georges' in La Cage Aux Folles from the 15 Apr 2005. This will be Mr Goulet's first Broadway appearance in 12 years.
La Cage Aux Folles opened at the Marquis Theatre on the 9 Dec 2004, following previews from the 11 Nov and is currently booking to the 28 Aug 2005.
Robert Goulet debued on Broadway in 1960, originating the role of Sir Lancelot in 'Camelot' opposite Richard Burton and Julie Andrews and won a Tony Award in 1968 for Best Actor in a Musical for 'The Happy Time'. His most recent Broadway credits include 'Camelot' in 1993, this time playing King Arthur and 'Moon Over Buffalo' in 1995.
Robert Goulet replaces Danial Davis who was dismissed from the show - making his last performance on the 27 Mar 2005. It has been rumoured that Daniel Davis had fallen out with Gary Beach and that they where no longer on speaking terms. Evans is also belived to have argued with other members of the cast - none of these events have been confirmed or denied by the producers.
La Cage Aux Folles tells the story of Albin and Georges, two middle-aged partners who run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez. Their outrageously resplendent peace turns to mayhem when their son announces that he is getting married--to the daughter of a local morals crusader!

The show has scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Peter Fitzgerald, hair & wig design by Paul Huntley and music direction by Patrick Vaccariello leading a 22 piece orchestra.
The original production of La Cage Aux Folles opened on Broadway at the Palace Theatre on August 21, 1983. It ran for 1,761 performances and was one of the most successful new American musicals of the decade, winning six Tony Awards including Best Musical.
