Jekyl & Hyde at the Marquis Theatre from 05 Apr 2013



Following the completion of its current national tour, Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde will begin previews on 5 Apr 2013 and open on 18 Apr 2013 at the Marquis Theatre, rather than the previously-announced Richard Rodgers Theatre.

The musical will play a 13-week limited Broadway engagement through to 30 Jun 2013.

Jekyll & Hyde is based on the classic 19th century British novella 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde,' by the Scottish author Robert Louise Stephenson. It tells the story of gentle Dr Jekyll, who while experimenting on himself to discover a cure for his father's mental illness, changes into the animalistic Mr. Hyde.

The musical was conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, and features music by Wildhorn (Bonie & Clyde, Wonderland), with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.

The musical will star Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) in the dual title role of 'Dr. Henry Jekyll' & 'Edward Hyde' and Grammy-nominated R&B superstar Deborah Cox as 'Lucy'.

The complete principal cast feayures Teal Wicks as 'Emma Carew' are Laird Mackintosh as 'John Utterson' and Richard White as 'Sir Danvers Carew.'

Rounding out the cast are David Benoit, Jerry Christakos, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., Miles Johnson, James Judy, Ashley Loren, Courtney Markowitz, Aaron Ramey, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Rob Richardson, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, Haley Swindal and Jason Wooten.

The creative team features sets and costumes Tobin Ost, lighting by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Ken Travis.

A pre-tour preview engagement of Jekyll & Hyde was presented at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, California from 7-30 Sep 2012. The 25-week national tour launched on 2 Oct 2012 at San Diego's Civic Theatre.

Jekyll & Hyde was first introduced as a concept album in 1990 featuring Colm Wilkinson and Linda Eder, and shortly thereafter had its world premiere at the Alley Theatre in Houston starring Chuck Wagner as 'Jekyll/ Hyde' and Linda Eder as 'Lucy.'

Following a 30-city National Tour, the Broadway production opened at The Plymouth Theatre (now the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre) on 28 Apr 1997 and earned four Tony Award nominations. Directed by Robin Phillips and choreographed by Joey Pizzi, the production starred Robert Cuccioli, who earned a Tony Nomination for his portrayal of 'Jekyll/ Hyde,' Linda Eder, in her Broadway debut, as 'Lucy.'
