'Hadestown' sets Broadway record at Walter Kerr Theatre

The musical has played that venue since 2019.

We raise our cups to Hadestown! The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical has become the longest-running show to ever play the Walter Kerr Theatre. As of January 4, 2023, Hadestown has played 918 performances, beating previous record holder Proof.

Hadestown began performances at the Kerr on March 22, 2019. That year, the show was nominated for 14 Tony Awards and won eight, including Best Musical. Hadestown is a retelling of the Greek myths of Orpheus, Eurydice, Hades, and Persephone, set to original folk and jazz music by creator Anaïs Mitchell.

The current cast of Hadestown includes Jewelle Blackman as Persephone, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Tom Hewitt as Hades, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Lillias White as Hermes, and Amelia Cormack, Shea Renne, and Soara-Joye Ross as the Fates.
