Giant: extends its run by two weeks

The Public Theater's New York premiere of Giant, an epic love story with book by Sybille Pearson and music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, has extended its run by two weeks, and will now play through to 16 Dec 2012.

Giant opened at the Public Theater's Newman Thater on 15 Nov 2012, foilowing previews from 26 Oct 2012, and was originally scheduled to close on 02 Dec 2012.

Based on the novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edna Ferber, Giant is a new American musical that spans generations in an epic chronicle of the state that's like no place else on earth: Texas. Amid a turbulent culture of greed, bigotry and money, a powerful cattleman, his new East Coast bride, their family and friends - not to mention their enemies - embrace and confront the joys and sorrows that loom as large as the state they call home.

Directed by Michael Greif and choreographed by Alex Sanchez, the cast will star Tony-nominee Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow) as 'Leslie,' Tony-nominee Brian d'Arcy James (Shrek The Musical, Sweet Smell of Success) as 'Bick,' Tony Award-winner Michele Pawk (Hollywood Arms) as 'Luz' and Tony-nominee Bobby Steggert (Ragtime) as 'Jordy Jr.'

The company will also feature Enrique Acevedo (Ensemble), Raul Aranas (Polo), Mary Bacon (Adarene, Mrs. Lynnton), Miguel Cervantes (Angel), Natalie Cortez (Juana), Rocio Del Mar Valles (Analita), John Dossett (Bawley), Jon Fletcher (Bobby Jr., Bobby Sr.), P.J. Griffith (Jett), Michael Halling (Lord Karfrey, Lynnton), Mackenzie Mauzy (Lil Luz), Doreen Montalvo (Lupe), Allison Rogers (Heidi, Lady Karfrey), Isabel Santiago (Ensemble), Martin Sola (DiModeo), Matthew Stocke (Mike), Katie Thompson (Vashti) and William Youmans (Pinkie).

The musical has scenic design by Allen Moyer, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Ken Posner and sound design by Brian Ronan.

Giant is a co-production with Dallas Theater Center and continues The Public's tradition of partnering with non-profit theaters around the country.
