Garrison to replace Jenkins in Vineyard's Kid Victory
The off-Broadway non-profit Vineyard Theatre has announced that Tony nominee David Garrison will step in for current cast member Daniel Jenkins, assuming the role of Joseph for the final week of the New York premiere of Kid Victory. Mr. Jenkins will play his final performance on March 12, before returning to his role in the Lincoln Center's Broadway transfer of Oslo. Mr. Garrison will begin performances on March 14, 2017.
David Garrison earned a Tony nomination in 1980 for 'A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine.' He has previously appeared in the Vineyard Theatre productions of 'Middletown' and 'Eight Days Backwards.' Broadway credits also include 'The Visit,' 'That Championship Season,' 'Wicked,' 'Bells Are Ringing,' 'Titanic,' 'Torch Song Trilogy,' 'The Pirates of Penzance,' and 'A History of the American Film.' He is also known for his TV role as Steve Rhoades on "Married With Children."
The cast of Kid Victory currently includes (in alphabetical order) Ann Arvia (Woman), Joel Blum (Man), Laura Darrell (Girl), Jeffry Denman (Michael), Brandon Flynn (Luke), Daniel Jenkins (Joseph), Dee Roscioli (Emily), Karen Ziemba (Eileen) and Blake Zolfo (Boy).
Kid Victory features music by John Kander, with a book & lyrics by Greg Pierce. The musical is directed by Liesl Tommy.
Previews for the new musical began on February 1, 2017, before an official opening on February 22 and the limited engagement is scheduled to close on March 19, 2017.
Synopsis: "Seventeen-year old Luke returns to his small Kansas town after a wrenching one-year absence. As his friendship grows with the town misfit, Emily, his parents realize that in order to truly find their son, they must confront some unnerving truths about his disappearance."
The creative team behind Kid Victory features music direction by Jesse Kissel, musical supervision by David Loud, orchestrations by Michael Starobin, choreography by Chrisotpher Windom, scenic design by Clint Ramos, costume design by Jacob Climer, lighting design by David Weiner and sound design by Peter Hylenski.
Kid Victory is a co-production between the Vineyard Theatre and Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia.
