Falling for Eve: cast announced
The York Theatre Company and 1113 Productions (Steven Ullman, Executive Producer) have announced the cast for the World Premiere of Falling for Eve, a new musical comedy opening at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's on 6 Jul 2010, following previews from 15 Jul.
Directed by Larry Raben, the cast for Falling for Eve features Krystal Joy Brown (Hair), Celina Carvajal (The Toxic Avenger, Tarzan), Nehal Joshi (Les Miserables), Adam Kantor (Next to Normal, Rent), Jose Llana (Spelling Bee, Flower Drum Song) and Sasha Sloan (Ragtime, The Kennedy Center).
Falling for Eve is a new musical featuring libretto by two-time Tony Award-nominee Joe DiPietro (Memphis), music by Bret Simmons and lyrics by David Howard. The show is based on Howard's play, 'Adam Alone.'
Falling for Eve offers a second look at the world's first love story. Creation is going perfectly. Eve, curious about what lies beyond the Garden of Eden, and obsessed with the notion that something is forbidden, bites the infamous apple. Then Adam doesn't. How exactly they'll get together to create the human race is anybody's guess.
Falling for Eve is a unconventional retelling of the most famous romance of all time, filled with unexpected twists and turns as Eve and Adam realize that "paradise" may not be a place after all.
The production features music direction by Kim Steiner, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costumes by Bobby Pearce and lighting by Herrick Goldman.
The York Theatre Company is the only theater in New York City - and one of very few in the world - dedicated to developing and fully producing new musicals and preserving neglected, notable shows from the past.
This season, Off-Broadway's York was nominated for seven Drama Desk, two Lucille Lortel, two Outer Critics Circle and one Drama League Award for its production of 'Yank! A WWII Love Story' -which has been announced for a Broadway transfer, along with last season's 'Enter Laughing, The Musical.'
