Enron, Lucy Prebble's play heading to Broadway in Apr

It is reported that Lucy Prebble's play Enron, about one of the most infamous scandals in financial history, will arrive on Broadway in Apr 2010.

Enron had its world premiere at the Chichester Festival Theatre, where it ran from 11 Jul - 29 Aug 2009.

The production, directed by Rupert Goold, stars Samuel West as 'Jeffrey Skilling,' CEO of the Enron Corporation, and also features Tom Goodman-Hill as 'Andy Fastow,' Tim Pigott-Smith as 'Ken Lay' and Amanda Drew as 'Claudia Roe .'

The dark comedy opened to excellent reviews "fantastic firecracker of a new play, brilliantly directed by Rupert Goold" (Daily Telegraph); "Nimble, funny, clear-eyed, inventive, informative, exhilarating and then sobering, relentlessly entertaining, surprisingly affecting, this is not to be missed." (The Times); "Enron, is an exhilarating mix of political satire, modern morality and multimedia spectacle." (Guardian).

Enron: One of the most infamous scandals in financial history becomes a theatrical epic. Mixing classical tragedy with savage comedy, it reviews the tumultuous 1990s and casts new light on the financial situation we find ourselves in today.

"'Are you kidding me? Did we take advantage? That's what we do, that's how the world works! If you want an objective morality, you're living in a dream. So when you ask, 'did we take advantage?', I hear, 'do you make a living?', 'do you breathe in and out?', 'are you a man?'! Yes, we took advantage. And the only difference between me and the people judging me is they weren't smart enough to do what we did. Now, are you gonna judge me or are you gonna help me?'"

Enron, produced by Chichester Festival Theatre, Headlong Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre is to open at London's Royal Court Theatre on 22 Sep 2009, following previews from 17 Sep and will run through to 31 Oct 2009. The production has already completey sold out its run.

It has now been learnt that the production will play at London's West End this winter and will then transfer to Broadway in April. It is not known if Samuel West, Tom Goodman-Hill and Tim Pigott-Smith, will transfer with the production to London's West End or to Broadway.

Information about the transfers is still to be officially announced.
