#DateMe: An OkCupid Experiment is set to play its final performance at the Westside Theatre this Sunday, September 15, 2019.
Producers of the Off-Broadway premiere of Robyn Lynne Norris' musical comedy #DateMe: An OkCupid Experiment have now posted a closure notice. Previews began at the Westside Theatre on June 20, 2019, ahead of an official opening on July 8, and the production will now play its final performance this Sunday, September 15, 2019. It will have played a total of 65 performances.
Synopsis: "48 million Americans have tried online dating. #DateMe: An OkCupid Experiment is the outrageous, true story of one. Robyn Lynne Norris (the show's creator and writer) is unlucky in love but determined to understand it better, so she logs on to the world's most popular dating site: OkCupid. Creating 38 "undateable" profiles as an interactive scientific investigation into online dating, Robyn unwittingly sets in motion the social experiment of our generation. Part improv, part sketch comedy and entirely hilarious, Robyn makes one conclusive result: there's no algorithm for love."
Kaitlyn Black, perhaps best known for her TV role as AnnaBeth Nass on The CW's "Hart of Dixie," stars as Robyn alongside Chris Alvarado, Jillian Gottlieb, Jonathan Gregg, Eric Lockley, Megan Sikora and Liz Wisan.
#DateMe: An OkCupid Experiment, which previously played a three-year run at the Up-Comedy Theatre in Chicago, was created by Robyn Lynne Norris, who wrote the show along with Bob Ladewig and Frank Caeti. It was developed by Diane Alexander and features original music by Sam Davis, with lyrics by Robyn Lynne Norris, Frank Caeti, Amanda Blake Davis, and Bob Ladewig.
Lorin Latarro, currently represented on Broadway as the choreographer behind hit musical Waitress, directs the New York premiere, whilst Jonathan Mastro serves as Music Director. The creative team also features scenic design by David Arsenault, costume design by Vanessa Leuck, lighting design by Travis McHale, sound design by Kevin Heard, and projections & interconnectivity by Sam Hains.
#DateMe: An OkCupid Experiment is produced off-Broadway by Elizabeth Williams and Diane Alexander, with Remmel Dickinson, Benjamin Lowy, and Adrian Salpeter.
