Chilina Kennedy to join 'The Great Gatsby' Broadway cast

The veteran stage actress, last seen on Broadway in 2022's Paradise Square, will step into the production at the Broadway Theatre temporarily this summer.

Welcome to the show, old sport! Chilina Kennedy will join the cast of The Great Gatsby on Broadway this summer, playing her first performance at the Broadway Theatre on July 15.

Kennedy will temporarily step into the role of Myrtle Wilson, replacing Sara Chase while she takes a medical leave of absence through September. Kennedy's past Broadway credits include the title role in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Annie O'Brien in Paradise Square, and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.

She now joins a cast that also includes Jeremy Jordan as Jay Gatsby, Eva Noblezada as Daisy Buchanan, Noah J. Ricketts as Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, John Zdrojeski as Tom Buchanan, Paul Whitty as George Wilson, and Eric Anderson as Wolfsheim.

The Great Gatsby, which opened in New York in March, is the first Broadway musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel. The show follows Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire who's obsessed with winning back his onetime love, the married socialite Daisy Buchanan, in Roaring Twenties New York.
