
Aisha Jackson to star in 'The Great Gatsby' on Broadway; Sarah Hyland to depart
The Broadway veteran will play Daisy Buchanan in the Tony-winning musical, replacing Modern Family star Sarah Hyland after she departs the show next month.
She's got the green light! Aisha Jackson will star in The Great Gatsby on Broadway, beginning performances on June 16 at the Broadway Theatre.
Jackson most recently starred opposite Anika Noni Rose in an Off-Broadway revival of Wonderful Town at New York City Center. On Broadway, she has starred as Middle Allie in The Notebook, Snow White in Once Upon a One More Time, and Anna in Frozen, making history as the first Black woman to play Anna on Broadway.
In The Great Gatsby, she will replace current star Sarah Hyland as Daisy Buchanan. Hyland plays her final performance on June 15.
Continuing cast members include Ryan McCartan as Jay Gatsby, Michael Maliakel as Nick Carraway, Linedy Genao as Myrtle Wilson, Austin Colby as Tom Buchanan, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Charlie Pollock as George Wilson, and Eric Anderson as Meyer Wolfsheim.
Adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, which turned 100 in April, The Great Gatsby follows the mysterious millionaire of the title as he pursues his obsessive love for his former flame, the married socialite Daisy. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2024 and earned the Tony Award for Best Costume Design.
