Chicago: Bryn Dowling (Roxie Hart) and LaVon Fisher-Wilson ('Mama' Morton) join cast on 30 Mar, Tom Hewitt to play 'Billy Flynn' from 20 Apr


Bryn Dowling & LaVon Fisher-Wilson join the cast of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Chicago on 30 Mar 2009, playing the roles of 'Roxie Hart,' and 'Matron 'Mama' Morton,' respectively.

Dowling assumes the role of 'Roxie' from Charlotte d'Amboise who plays her final performance on 29 Mar 2009.

Dowling recently played the role of 'Roxie' on Broadway from 23 Feb - 8 Mar 2009. She has previously understudied the role of 'Roxie' on Broadway, as well as performed the roles of 'Hunyak' and 'Mona.' Her other Broadway credits include 'The Producers' (Ensemble/Usherette: 2001) and 'The Frogs' (mulitple: 2004).

LaVon Fisher-Wilson once again plays "Matron 'Mama' Morton", a role she first played in the Broadway production from 14 Nov 2008 - 4 Jan 2009, she assumes the role from Carol Woods who plays her final performance on 29 Mar 2009.

Fisher-Wilson made her Broadway debut in 2007 when she joined the swing of the Broadway musical 'The Color Purple' (2005).

Regular cast member Tom Hewitt will return to the role of 'Billy Flynn' on 20 Apr 2009, assuming the role from Tom Wopat, another regular cast member, who plays his final performance on 19 Apr 2009.

Hewitt received a Tony nomination for his performance as 'Frank N. Furter' in 'The Rocky Horror Show' (2000 revival). Hewitt's Broadway credits include 'Dracula, The Musical' (2004), 'The Boys form Syracuse' (2002 revival), 'The Lion King' (1997); 'The School for Scandal' (1995 revival) and 'The Sisters Rosenzweig.' (1993).

Chicago currently stars Amra-Faye Wright (Velma Kelly), Charlotte d�Amboise (Roxie Hart), Tom Wopat (Billy Flynn), Carol Woods (Matron 'Mama' Morton), Raymond Bokhour (Amos Hart) and R. Lowe (Mary Sunshine).

Now celebrating twelve years on the Great White Way, Chicago is the second longest-running production currently playing on Broadway, as well as Broadway's longest-running musical revival.

The show has been playing on Broadway since 14 Nov 1996, it moved to the Ambassador Theatre on the 29 Jan 2003 where it is currently booking through to 6 Sep 2009.

Chicago follows not your usual housewife, Roxie Hart, who gains dubious notoriety when she kills her boyfriend, invents her defence and manipulates everyone from her trustworthy husband to the fickle media and the unsuspecting public. The show features the well known songs, 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Mr. Cellophane'.

Chicago has music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, Book by Bob Fosse & Fred Ebb.

The musical is directed by Walter Bobbie, with choreography by Ann Reinking, scene design by John Lee Beatty, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Scott Lehrer.

Chicago is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording. It is the eighth longest-running production in Broadway history, as well as Broadway�s longest-running musical revival.
