Cast Announced for Placebo at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons have announced the cast for their upcoming production of Placebo by Obie Award winner Melissa James Gibson at their Main Stage theatre from 20 February to 5 April 2015, with an official opening on 16 March 2015.

The cast will feature Kristen Connolly, William Jackson Harper, Alex Hurt and Florencia Lozano.

"A minty green pill - medication or sugar? Louise (Kristen Connolly) is working on a placebo-controlled study of a new female arousal drug. As her work in the lab navigates the blurry lines between perception and deception, more and more these same questions pertain to her life at home."

Directed by Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin, the production will feature scenic and costume designs by David Zinn, lighting design by Matt Frey and sound design by Ryan Rumery.

Kristen Connolly (Louise) is perhaps most known for her screen role as Christina Gallagher in the Netflix series 'House of Cards'. Her off-Broadway credits include: 'King Lear' (The Public) and 'Measure for Measure', 'All's Well That Ends Well' (NYSF/Delacorte). This will mark her Playwrights Horizons debut.

William Jackson Harper (Jonathan) recently starred in the Broadway production of 'All the Way' which won the 2014 Tony Award for Best New Play. His off-Broadway credits include 'Modern Terrorism' (Second Stage); 'Massacre' (Rattlestick); 'The Total Bent', 'Titus Androncius' (The Public); 'Ruined' (MTC); 'Paradise Park', 'Queens Boulevard: the musical' (Signature).

Alex Hurt (Tom) Off-Broadway credits include 'Scenes from a Marriage' (NYTW), 'Caucasian Chalk Circle' (CSC) and 'Unrequited' (The Public). This will mark his Playwrights Horizons debut.

Florencia Lozano (Mary) will be making her Playwrights Horizons debut. Off-Broadway credits include 'Red Dog Howls' (NYTW), 'Macbeth' (NYSF/Delacorte), 'Privilege' (Second Stage), 'Last Easter' (MCC), 'Right You Are' (National Actors Theatre) and 'Where's My Money' (MTC).
