Bull, by Mike Bartlett, at 59E59 from 25 Apr 2013

59E59 Theaters has announced playwright Mike Bartlett's ('Artefacts' in 2008) return to Brits Off-Broadway Festival with the US premiere of Bull.

Two jobs. Three candidates. This would be a really bad time to have a stain on your shirt... Bull is about office politics; or playground bullying depending which side you're on.

Called "Lord of the Flies in sharp suits for grown ups" (Yorkshire Post), Bull was written as the companion piece to last season's Off Broadway 'Cock.'

The cast of Bull features Adam James ('Don't Dress for Dinner' at the Roundabout, 'The Pride' at MTC), Eleanor Matsuura ('Danton's Death' at the National, 'Enron' at the Royal Court/West End), Neil Stuke ('Boing-Boing' at the Comedy Theatre; 'Blue/Orange' in the West End) and Sam Troughton ('Romeo & Juliet,' RSC at the Armory, 'Love, Love, Love' at the Royal Court).

The design team includes sets by Soutra Gilmour, lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by Christopher Shutt, with choreographer by Alistair David and fight direction by Christian Thompson.

Mike Bartlett's (playwright) plays include 'Medea' (Glasgow Citizens/Headlong), 'Chariots of Fire' (based on the film; Hampstead/West End), '13' (National), 'Love, Love, Love' (Paines Plough/Plymouth Drum/Royal Court), 'Earthquakes in London' (Headlong/National), 'Cock' (Royal Court/Off-Broadway), 'Artefacts' (Nabokov/Bush/Brits Off Broadway) and 'Contractions and My Child' (Royal Court). He is currently Associate Playwright at Bartlett's three-part television series, 'The Town,' was broadcast at the end of last year on ITV1.

Clare Lizzimore's (director) awards include the Channel 4 Theatre Directors Award and the Arts Foundation Theatre Directing Fellowship for Innovation. She has been resident director at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow and a staff director at the Royal National Theatre. Lizzimore has directed numerous international plays and travelled extensively for the Royal Court's International Programme, developing new work with artists in Africa and the Middle East. Recent productions include 'One Day When We Were Young' (Roundabout Season, Crucible Studio Theatre/Shoreditch Town Hall), 'Lay Down Your Cross' (Hampstead), 'Pieces of Vincent' (Arcola), 'Faces in the Crowd' (Royal Court), 'War and Peace, Fear and Misery' (Royal Court/Latitude Festival), 'On the Rocks' (Hampstead), 'Jonah and Otto' (Royal Exchange) and 'Tom Fool' (Glasgow Citizens/Bush).
