Break Out extends its run by seven weeks


Show and Arts Inc The nonverbal dance comedy Break Out has extended its run by seven weeks.

The show opened at the Union Square Theatre on 23 Sep 2008, following previews from 18 Sep, for a limited engagement that was originally scheduled to end on 12 Oct 2008, but will now play through to 30 Nov 2008.

The show opened to mixed reviews: "Derived only mild amusement from its mindless shenanigans." (Star-Ledger); "Young children .. laughed along with adults at the cleverly mimed humor." (AP) and "(as) entertainment...it succeeds admirably if sometimes accidentally." (Variety).

Break Out is a nonverbal dance comedy tells the tale of a night-in-the-life of a group of desperate prisoners whose nightmare existence changes beyond belief when an ancient and sacred text mysteriously drops into the prison. This mysterious arrival inspires the inmates to plan a daring escape into the outside world, where they are able to enjoy a brief, and hilarious, moment of freedom. Featuring a cast of nuns, nurses and break-dancing villains in the craziest jail break of all time.

Break Out is written and created by SevenSense Inc. and the creative team of 'Jump,' which recently closed off-Broadway.

Directed by Jun-Beom Juen, Break Out features Dae-Hyeok Lim, Won-Jun Song, Jong-Wook Jeong, Chul-Hee Han, Yong-Nam Song, Jae-Hong Park, Seong-June Park, Ji-Hee Jang, Jin-Hee Kim and Yoon-Hui Choi.

The creative team includes Young Kim (sets), Hee-Ju Kim (costumes), Jun-Beom Juen (lighting) and Yo-Chan Kim (sound).

The show is being produced off-Broadway by Show and Arts Inc.
