An Act of God begins previews on Broadway tonight

The second Broadway engagement of An Act of God begins previews at Broadway's Booth Theatre tonight, before an official opening set for 6 June, and a limited 14-week engagement through to 4 September 2016.

Based on the critically acclaimed book "written by God" and transcribed by Emmy winner David Javerbaum, An Act of God is directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello.

The cast of An Act of God includes Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Sean Hayes (God), James Gleason (Gabriel) and David Josefsberg (Michael), reprising their roles from the California engagements.

Synopsis: "The King of the Universe is back to tackle His greatest challenge yet: a second summer in New York. God takes the form of Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes in the 90-minute comedy where the Almighty and His devoted Angels answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since Creation. He's returned to set the record straight to a whole new crop of believers... and He's not holding back!"

The creative team behind An Act of God features scenic design by Tony winner Scott Pask, costume design by Tony nominee David Zinn, lighting design by Tony winner Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Fitz Patton and projection design by Peter Nigrini.

An Act of God is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Finn.

The Broadway premiere of An Act of God was the first production of the 2015-2016 season and played Studio 54 from 7 May to 2 August 2015. Golden Globe and Emmy winner Jim Parsons took on the role of God, with Christopher Fitzgerald as Michael and Tim Kazurinsky as Gabriel.

Sean Hayes then starred as God in both the Los Angeles and San Francisco productions.

Sean Hayes previously starred in the 2010 Broadway production of 'Promises, Promises,' earning a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. He is perhaps best known for his recurring TV role as Jack McFarland in "Will & Grace," which earned him an Emmy Award (along with six further Emmy nominations) and six Golden Globe nominations over the years. Other screen credits include "The Millers," "Sean Saves the World," "Smash," "The Three Stooges," "Soul Men," "The Bucket List," and "The Cat in the Hat."
