A Catered Affair: Tom Wopat to play the father-of-the-bride
More featured casting has been announced for A Catered Affair, the new musical with book by Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and directed by John Doyle.
The musical is to open ion Broadway on 17 Apr 2008, following previews from 25 Mar, at a theatre to be announced.
Joining the previously announced stars Faith Prince, Tom Wopat, Harvey Fierstein and Leslie Kritzer will be Philip Hoffman, Katie Klaus, Heather MacRae, Lori Wilner and Kristine Zbornik.
Based on the 1956 Turner Entertainment motion picture written by Gore Vidal, and the original teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky, A Catered Affair reveals relationships strained to their limits when a couple must decide whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter's marriage with a lavish catered affair.
Prior to opening on Broadway, A Catered Affair will inaugurate the 2007-8 season at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, where performances begin on 20 Sep 2007.
Casting for the role of �Ralph� (The Groom) and the complete design team will be announced shortly.
A Catered Affair will be produced on Broadway by Jujamcyn Theaters, Harvey Entertainment/Ron Fierstein and Richie Jackson.
Philip Hoffman�s Broadway credits include 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Ring Round the Moon', as well as being a veteran of the original casts of 'Into the Woods', 'Baby', 'Is There Life After High School?' and 'Falsettos,' among others.
Katie Klaus most recently appeared in the Broadway revival of 'Inherit the Wind' and earlier this year as �Young Sally� in the New York City Center Encores! presentation of Follies.
Heather MacRae�s Broadway credits include Falsettos, Coastal Disturbances and the original cast of Hair.
Lori Wilner appeared opposite Mr. Fierstein�s �Tevye� as �Golde� in the recent revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
Kristine Zbornik is making her Broadway debut, she will be known to many for her comic turns in 'Forbidden Broadway'.
