‘Is This A Room’ and ‘Dana H.’ announce Broadway cast and creative teams
The two shows will play in repertory at the Lyceum Theatre.
Is This A Room and Dana H. have announced the full casts and creative teams for their Broadway runs. The two plays will run on a rotating schedule at the Lyceum Theatre, with Is This A Room beginning performances on September 24 and Dana H. on October 1.
Tina Satter's Is This A Room adapts the verbatim transcription of the FBI interrogation with Reality Winner, a former Air Force linguist charged with leaking classified information to the press. Joining the previously announced Obie Award winner Emily Davis as Reality Winner are Becca Blackwell as Unknown Male, Will Cobbs as Agent Taylor, and Pete Simpson as Agent Garrick. Duane Cooper and Katherine Romans are understudies.
Dana H. by Lucas Hnath tells the true story of his mother and how she was held captive for five months by a patient at the psychiatric ward she worked at. Deirdre O'Connell will headline the Broadway show, lip-syncing a transcript of Hnath's mother telling her story in her own words.
Is This A Room and Dana H. both played off Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre during its 2019-2020 season. Davis, Blackwell, and Simpson previously appeared in Is This A Room there, and O'Connell is also reprising her Dana H. role from the Vineyard production.
Both creative teams from the Vineyard productions remain intact for the Broadway runs. The Is This A Room team includes scenic designer Parker Lutz, costume designer Enver Chakartash, lighting designer Thomas Dunn, sound designers Lee Kinney and Sanae Yamada, original music by Yamada, and puppet designer Amanda Villalobos.
The Dana H. team includes scenic designer Andrew Boyce, costume designer Janice Pytel, lighting designer Paul Toben, Obie Award-winning audio editor and sound designer Mikhail Fiksel, and illusion and lip sync consultant Steve Cuiffo.
