Riverdance rose to fame during the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest and went on to be developed into a full-length stage production, composed by Bill Whelan and directed by John McColgan, which broke all box office records with its world premiere engagement in Dublin in 1995. Since then, it has been performed all over the world, including London, New York, and countless cities in Europe, North America, Asia, South Africa, South America, and Oceania. Riverdance's first international tour was launched at Radio City Music Hall in March 1996, making this new production a homecoming of sorts.
