Paradise Blue extends limited run at Pershing Square Signature Center

The New York premiere of Paradise Blue adds a 1-week extension prior to the first preview performance.

Signature Theatre has announced a 1-week extension for the upcoming NYC premiere of Paradise Blue, written by Obie Award-winner Dominique Morisseau and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson, which begins previews at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre inside the Pershing Square Signature Center on April 24, 2018, before an official opening on May 14 and will now play a limited engagement through to June 10, 2018 (instead of June 3).

Synopsis: "In 1949, Detroit's Blackbottom neighborhood is gentrifying. Blue, a troubled trumpeter and the owner of Paradise Club, is torn between remaining in Blackbottom with his loyal lover Pumpkin and leaving behind a traumatic past. But when the arrival of a mysterious woman stirs up tensions, the fate of Paradise Club hangs in the balance. Paradise Blue is a thrilling and timely look at the changes a community endures to find its resilience."

The cast of Paradise Blue includes Francois BattisteKristolyn LloydJ. Alphonse Nicholson, and Keith Randolph Smith.

The creative team behind Paradise Blue features original music by Kenny Rampton, music direction by Bill Sims, Jr., scenic design by Neil Patel, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Rui Rita, sound design by Darron L West, and fight direction by Thomas Schall.

The world premiere of Paradise Blue was staged at the Williamstown Theatre Festival during its 2015 season.

Paradise Blue Tickets are available now for performances from April 24 through to June 10, 2018.
