Producer Kevin McCollum has today announced the world premiere engagement of new musical Mrs. Doubtfire "on route to Broadway." The highly anticipated film-to-stage tuner, directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, is scheduled to begin previews at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre on November 26, 2019, ahead of an official opening on December 13 and a limited run through December 29, 2019.

As previously reportedMrs. Doubtfire, based on the much loved Golden Globe-winning film of the same name, will feature a book by John O'Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick and a score by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick. The trio all earned Tony Award nominations in 2015 for their Broadway debuts as the writing team behind Something Rotten!

Newly announced creative team members include choreographer Lorin Latarro and music supervisor Tony Award nominee Ethan Popp. Casting and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Synopsis: "Fix your wig and slip on this pantyhose, dear, ‘cause Mrs. Doubtfire is strutting to the stage! Based on the beloved 1993 Twentieth Century Fox film, Mrs. Doubtfire is the laugh-out-loud hilarious and heartfelt story of newly divorced and out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard. After losing custody of his children, Daniel disguises himself as Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire and takes a job in his ex-wife’s home in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As he gets lost in his new persona and grows closer to his kids, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father."

The movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" was released in November 1993, becoming the highest-grossing comedy of that year with global sales of $441,286,195 at the worldwide box office. The film went on to win the Golden Globe in January 1994 in the category of "Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy," whilst its star, the late Robin Williams, took home the Golden Globe for "Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy." The cast also included Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, and Harvey Fierstein.
