UPDATE: New casting has been announced to replace Tveit, Mendoza, Mutu, and Rojas. New cast members include Tony nominee Derek Klena as Christian, Ashley Loren as Satine, Declan Bennett as the Duke, and Caleb Marshall-Villarreal as Santiago. They will assume their roles May 10.

Four principal cast members of Moulin Rouge! The Musical are leaving the world of the bohemians. Aaron Tveit, Natalie Mendoza, Tam Mutu, and Ricky Rojas will all play their final performances in the Tony Award-winning musical on May 8.

Tveit, Mutu, and Rojas originated the respective roles of Christian, the Duke of Monroth, and Santiago in the 2018 world premiere of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in Boston. They later originated these same roles when the musical premiered at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre in 2019, and Tveit won a Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance. Mendoza assumed the leading role of Satine from original cast member Karen Olivo when Moulin Rouge! The Musical reopened in 2021 after the Broadway shutdown.

New casting for the roles of Christian, Satine, the Duke, and Santiago has yet to be announced.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann's Academy Award-winning movie about love and showbiz in 20th-century Paris. The titular Moulin Rouge nightclub is where the writer Christian falls for the showgirl Satine, but many obstacles lie in the way of their romance. The musical adaptation features all the popular music hits from the 2001 film, like "Your Song" and "El Tango de Roxanne," in addition to dozens of contemporary pop songs from the years since the film was released.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, at the 2020 ceremony.
