Jim Parsons stars in An Act of God at Studio 54

Producer Jeffrey Finn has announced that four-time Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons will play the role of 'God' on Broadway in the new comedy An Act of God at the historic Studio 54 for a limited engagement from 5 May 2015 with an official opening on 28 May 2015.

The comedy is based on the book 'The Last Testament: A Memoir By God' transcribed by David Javerbaum who has won 13 Emmy Awards for his work as a head writer and executive producer for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart".

It will feature direction by Joe Mantello, whose previous Broadway directing credits include 'The Last Ship', 'Casa Valentina', 'I'll Eat You Last', '9 to 5' and 'Wicked'.

'God' described An Act of God as "A 90-minute conversation in which I will reveal the mysteries of the Bible and answer some of the greatest existential questions that plague mankind...I chose Jim to play Me because I relish the irony of telling the real story of the Six Days of Creation through the star of 'The Big Bang Theory.' Plus, he's funny. The theater was also chosen for ironic reasons, as Studio 54 - up to this point - has been the single most God-less place in the universe."

Casting of two angels and the design team are yet to be announced.

Tickets for the production will go on sale to the general public in mid-February 2015.
