After the huge success of Panic! at the Disco! frontman Brendon Urie's turn in the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots, producers are throwing another popstar into the mix. Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears will make his Broadway debut as he steps into the role of Charlie Price from January 8 to April 1, 2018 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. If that wasn't enough, a month later, Kristin Maldonado - singer from the hit a cappella group Pentatonix - will also join the cast and assume the role of Lauren from February 2 to April 8.

Mr. Shears commented: "I have been dreaming of doing Broadway, and my wish got answered tenfold. I couldn't be more excited about doing Kinky Boots on Broadway; it's going to be a delicious challenge! Believe it or not, they're going to be the first stilettos I'll ever have worn. My feet are so big, I've never seen a pair that would actually fit me."

Ms. Maldonado added: "Being on Broadway has been my ultimate bucket list goal since I was eight years old, so I'm so excited to join such an incredible cast to share this special story!!!"

In addition, Kinky Boots alum J. Harrison Ghee will return to the cast as Lola from January 8.

Tony Award winner Billy Porter and Tony Award nominee Stark Sands are both scheduled to play their final performances as Lola and Charlie Price, respectively, on January 7, whilst Delaney Westfall will play her final performance as Lauren on February 1, 2018.

The principal cast of Kinky Boots currently includes Tony Award winner Billy Porter (as Lola), Tony Award nominee Stark Sands (as Charlie Price), Delaney Westfall (as Lauren), Shannon O'Boyle (as Nicola), Daniel Stewart Sherman(as Don) and Marcus Neville (as George).

Kinky Boots officially opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 4, 2013, following previews from March 3, and is currently booking through to August 26, 2018.

Based on the 2005 British comedy movie of the same name by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, the musical features a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, with music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning artist Cyndi Lauper and is directed and choreographed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell.

Synopsis: "Charlie Price is forced to step in and save his family's shoe factory in Northern England following the sudden death of his father. Help comes from the unlikeliest angel, a fabulous drag performer named Lola. Together, this improbable duo revitalizes the failing business, while stepping out from their fathers' shadows and transforming an entire community through the power of acceptance."

The creative team behind Kinky Boots features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and sound design by John Shivers.

The production was nominated for a total of 13 Tony Awards, of which it won six: "Best Musical," "Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical" (for Billy Porter), "Best Original Score" (for Cyndi Lauper), "Best Choreography" (for Jerry Mitchell), "Best Orchestrations" (for Stephen Oremus), and "Best Sound Design" (for John Shivers).

Kinky Boots is produced on Broadway by Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig.
