The world premiere of Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, starring three-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane in the titular role, has delayed its official opening at Broadway's Booth Theatre. Originally scheduled to open on April 11, 2019, the production will now officially open on April 21, 2019.

As previously reported, original cast member and two-time Tony Award winner Andrea Martin was forced to depart the production on March 4 due to a sustained injury in rehearsal, which caused four broken ribs. Cast member and Tony Award nominee Kristine Nielsen assumed Ms. Martin's intended role of Janice, whilst Tony Award winner Julie White joined the cast to cover Ms. Nielsen's previous role of Carol. Previews were postponed from March 5, 2019, finally beginning on March 11, with the limited engagement still scheduled to run through to August 4, 2019.

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus is a new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Taylor Mac and is helmed by Tony Award-winning director George C. Wolfe. Gary also features original music by four-time Academy Award nominee Danny Elfman, who officially makes his Broadway debut with the production.

Synopsis: "In Gary, Taylor Mac's singular world view intersects with Shakespeare's first tragedy, Titus Andronicus. In Mac's extraordinary new play, set during the fall of the Roman Empire, the years of bloody battles are over. The civil war has ended. The country has been stolen by madmen, and there are casualties everywhere (among them a midwife on the verge of death - Nielsen). And two very lowly servants - Lane and Martin - are charged with cleaning up the bodies. The year is 400 - but it feels like the end of the world."

The creative team behind Gary features scenic design by four-time Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, costume design by Tony and Academy Award winner Ann Roth, and lighting design by nine-time Tony Award winner Jules Fisher & three-time Tony Award winner Peggy Eisenhauer.

Nathan Lane picked up his third Tony Award last season for his performance as Roy Cohn in Angels of America, winning previously for The Producers in 2001 and for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in 1996. He has also earned Tony Award nominations for his performances in The Front Page (2017), The Nance (2013), and Guys and Dolls (1992).
